A program co-hosted by The Interfaith Center, Arkansas House of Prayer, and The Oasis Renewal Center at St. Margaret’s
Children and youth of all faith backgrounds in grades 3-12 are invited to participate in an afternoon meditation workshop led by The Rev. Susan Sims Smith, an Episcopal priest, and Ashley Huddleston, a therapist and Buddhist. L. Learn the basics of meditation and quiet reflection, then spend time in the Arkansas House of Prayer practicing these skills.
This workshop will offer perspectives from many different faith traditions and encourage youth to draw upon the wisdom of their own faith tradition as they explore silence and stillness together.
During part of the day, participants will have the option - based upon their personal religious preferences - of meditating either by listening to beautiful singing bowls or sitting with icons from an international exhibit that is currently at the church.
Note:
For children in grades 3-8, an adult must attend this workshop with their child. No additional supervision will be provided. Adults will learn skills and ideas to help bring these new meditation practices home.
Youth in grades 9-12 may attend without an adult.
Please arrive by 1:15 so that we may begin promptly at 1:30.
Cost: $5 per child/youth participant. Scholarships available! Scholarship option can be selected during registration at the link above.
